Define a Shared Printer on a Delegation Server

Install the printer driver of the device to be used for printing on the Delegation Server, and then configure the port and authentication.

To print from a client computer with 32-bit Windows installed, install the printer driver for a 32-bit operating system.

This section provides instructions to:

1. Download the RICOH Universal Print Driver: Use Microsoft Edge to download and install the RICOH Universal Print Driver on Windows Server 2012. The procedure varies depending on the web browser, operating system, and printer driver used.

2. Add a printer and configure an SLNX Secure Print Port (Secure Print)

3. Add a printer and configure a Standard TCP/IP Port (Direct Print)

4. Shared printer authentication settings

Depending on the operating system you are using, you may have to log in with administrative privileges and execute the Add Printer Wizard.

After installing the printer driver, select [Control Panel]    [Devices and Printers], and then select the RICOH driver that you have installed to specify the installed printer as the default printer.

1. Download the RICOH Universal Print Driver

Before installing the printer driver on a Delegation Server, download the printer driver to the Delegation Server. Use the following procedure to download the RICOH Universal Print Driver:

Be sure to download the printer driver to the Delegation Server, not the client computer.

  1. On the Delegation Server, browse to http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/rc3/model/p_i/p_i.htm.

  1. Click [Download] under [PCL6 Driver for Universal Print] or [PS Driver for Universal Print].

  2. Click [Run].

  3. Open the download destination folder, and click [Unzip].

When a message is displayed indicating that extraction was successful, click [OK].

2. Add a printer and configure an SLNX Secure Print Port

If using the Secure Print feature, add a device with a configured SLNX Secure Print Port as a shared printer.

When installing the printer driver to a non-Ricoh device, enter "Other" in front of the printer name in Step 10.

  1. Open [Devices and Printers].

  1. Click [Add a printer].

    To cancel searching for a device, click [Cancel].

  2. Click [The printer that I want isn't listed].

  3. Select [Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings], and click [Next].

  4. Select [SLNX Secure Print Port] in the [Use an existing port] drop-down list, and click [Next].

  5. Select [RICOH] in the [Manufacturer] list, and click [Have Disk].

  6. Click [Browse], navigate to the folder where the RICOH Universal Print Driver can be downloaded, and open the driver file.

  7. Click [OK].

  8. Select the printer driver to use, and click [Next].

  9. Enter the printer name, and click [Next]. Enter "Other" in front of the printer name.

  10. Select [Share this printer so that anyone on your network can find and use it], enter the [Share name], [Location], and [Comment], and click [Next].

  11. Click [Finish].

The printer with the SLNX Secure Print Port configured is added to the list of printers.

3. Add a printer and configure a Standard TCP/IP Port

To use the direct printing functions, add a device with a configured Standard TCP/IP Port as a shared printer.

  1. Open [Devices and Printers].

  1. Click [Add a printer].

    To cancel searching for a device, click [Cancel].

  1. Click [The printer that I want isn't listed].

  2. Select [Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings], and click [Next].

  3. Select [Standard TCP/IP Port] in the [Create a new port] drop-down list, and click [Next].

  4. Enter the printer name or IP address of the device, and click [Next].

  5. Searching of a TCP/IP port starts.

  6. Check that a correct port has been detected, and then click [Finish].

  7. On the [Install the printer driver] screen, click [Have Disk].

  8. Click [Browse], navigate to the folder where the RICOH Universal Print Driver can be downloaded, and open the driver file.

  9. Click [OK].

  10. Select the printer driver to use, and click [Next].

  11. Enter the printer name, and click [Next].

    When installing the printer driver to a non-Ricoh device, enter "Other

  1. Select [Share this printer so that anyone on your network can find and use it], enter the [Share name], [Location], and [Comment], and click [Next].

  2. Click [Finish].

The printer with the Standard TCP/IP Port configured is added to the list of printers.

4. Shared printer authentication settings

The authentication information must be configured on the device registered to the client computer in the following cases:

  • When the LDAP and Active Directory servers to be used for user authentication differ on the client computer and in SLNX.

  • When the client computer has identified the user as a Windows local user.

To configure authentication information on a shared printer registered to the client computer, configure the following using the RICOH Universal Print Driver:

  1. Click [Start] and [Devices and Printers].

  1. Right-click the printer icon of the shared printer, and select [Printer properties].

  2. Select the [User authentication] check box on the [Preferences] tab.

  3. Click [OK].
